A Book That Tells Us about Past, Present, Future

TEHRAN (IQNA) – People are surprised when someone makes a prediction about the future, but it is more surprising to know that there is a book that has made accurate prediction about the future.  

When people make predictions, they do it based on their analyses of the situation in the past and present. They guess that in accordance with these analyses, this or that may happen in the future.

What about the Quran? How can a book that has been revealed at a certain time and under certain conditions make predictions about the future? Here there can be two explanations which are both true and not contradictory.

1- Cases in which the Quran clearly talks about what will happen in the future

One example is the war between Iran and the Roman empire about which the Quran has made a clear prediction that came true. During the reign of Sasanian king Khosrow Parviz, Iran inflicted a bitter defeat on the Romans. No one imagined that the Romans, who had been severely defeated and weakened could fight against and defeat Iran. But the Holy Quran predicted that it would happen and it did happen:

“The Romans have been defeated (by the Persians) in a land close by. But, in a few years after their defeat they shall become the victors.” (Verses 3-4 of Surah Ar-Rum)

2- Cases that ordinary people cannot comprehend

Ordinary people cannot grasp the depth of the teachings and truths of the Quran, which are so sublime that only the Infallibles (AS) can understand.

Imam Sadiq (AS) said he was knowledgeable about the Book of God and what it says about the beginning of creation and whatever will come to pass until the Day of Resurrection.

So everything has been mentioned in the Quran but not all people are capable of comprehending it.
